People always forget to coat the straw with a mixture of cow dung and mud to seal and insulate it.
 
Any hive that doesn't have a flat roof doesn't appeal to me :)

Yeeeesssss, but you do care for your bees don't you? It will be cold inside :). The cow dung and mud will reduce the heat transfer between bees inside the hive or in thermal contact or in range of the radiative influence and the outside world as we know it.
I'm sure someone somewhere must know the Watt per meter per Kelvin value for a natural straw skep insulated with cow excrement.
 
Nit picking ....
With that shape of roof edge, would rainwater soak the ends of the straw and rot ?
Side straws might have better run off if vertical.
 
I wouldn't like to flame one of those hives lol
