Just joined the forum today. I have never kept bees before but always had an interest for over twenty years after visiting a display hive at Lowther Gardens, Lytham.
Children grown up and left home and lots of time to spare after taking voluntary redundancy 4 years ago. Purchased the Haynes beekeeping manual and I'm hooked!
I hope to join Blackburn Beekeeping Society and start keeping bees in 2014?
Lots to learn before though.

Karl

Hi Karl

I'm just down the road from you

welcome ...........

Welcome from the sunny south ... hope it's as warm in Blackburn - I've been there many times but I've only ever seen it in the rain !!

Welcome!

Get in with the local club asap.
You need to get to meet bees at close quarters before spending real money.
Lots of people will welcome a helping hand - even if it is only lifting boxes made heavy with honey!

Welcome to the club, Ted Hooper's 'A Guide to Bees and Honey,' is a good book.

And good luck.
