Guard bees kicking out drones?

At some point(s) in the season, drones are surplus to requirements and simply a drain on resources, without any likely useful return from them.

So they are ejected. No particular time, simply depends on the season. Usually denotes an end to swarming or supercedure (in the foreseeable future) with any particular colony.

Some drones may over-winter in some colonies. Not too common but nor is it a rarity.
