Hi,

I put a 6 frame nuc into a national hive in the beginning of July and fed for a week or so. They have been a bit slow at drawing out the comb though. Someone on here said to put an undrawn frame into the brood area and that seems to have worked a treat as its fully drawn and packed with brood now.. however, I still have 4 of the 11 frames pretty much untouched.. queen seems to be doing well and overall and from what I can tell the colony seems healthy.. so my question is.. should I worry at this stage of the year that I still have 4 frames empty? And if so should I move another frame to the centre or is it a bit cold going forward to be fecking about moving frames?

Thanks
Ben

Take another and put it in the middle of the brood and in roughly a weeks time if they are up for it it will be drawn out and laid up. Repeat.

Thanks for the advice, if I move a frame with stores and swap it for an untouched wax frame, is there a chance the frame with stores will be more likely to be unattended and be more likely to be robbed/go bad.. sorry, I'm the master of overthinking/worrying..

No Ben, it won't go bad. The reason for doing this is the bees want the stores next to their brood so it forces them to 'fill the gap'.
