The annual Essex Beekeepers' Association conference is being hosted by the Epping Forest division and is entitled Plants, Pollinators and Pesticides.

There will be a number of presentations on this most important of subjects from Clive de Bruyn and a raft of leading academics and industry experts.

Like many of our bees, the delegates will be housed in cedar structures at the beautiful Epping Woodland Burial Park, near J27 of the M25 and J6 of the M11.

They say that bees and horses don't mix, but it costs only a pony (£25) all in, including a great lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

:cheers2:

Still a few places left if you want a fantastic day of bee learning.

You'll even get to meet me...or you can stay anonymous as you wish ;-)

Have to say that if you missed today's conference, you really missed out.

Cracking line up of speakers made for a very informative and enjoyable day.

Now, how often can you say that about a conference?

Having attended the event with two colleagues from the NBKT all I can say: It was fantastic! The organisers, I believe Epping Forest branch, deserve great praise for putting together such an interesting programme, very much focussed on questions of bee nutrition and forage conditions, which strikes me as extremely relevant for beekeepers, probably far more important than the kind of box one keeps one's bees in or the other 'moan and groan' topics often encountered when beekeepers get together.

Also, this one-day-convention was packed to capacity, and the organisers said that many people had to be turned away, as 130 paqrticipants was the capacity limit of the very lovely venue.

We felt really heartened to see that the emphasis on the needs of the bees of the entire programme attracted so much interest in the beekeeping community.

Fabulous, inspiring day and many many thanks to the hardworking people who laid it on! Congratulations and thank you!

I'll be sure to pass on your comments to Ian Nichols, who chaired the organising committee, Heidi.

It was a cracking day, with plenty of food for thought and I learned a great deal.

In fact the food was also far better than average conference fare.

Thank you, I'd be pleased if you did; I imagine one of my colleagues will also write directly. There was so much to learn, and the final talk about meadows incredibly inspiring ..... imagine the country covered in nectar rich flowers.
I spoke to the Sheffield Uni professor afterwards, and found that he is more than happy to be involved with any large scale project to turn grass/lwasteland into nectar rich meadows. Lovely prospect!
You are right, even the food was way above what one could expect! Wow, an example to follow all round.

Yes, I liked his ideas a great deal. Much to consider. More books to buy...
