Two swallow's around my house today, they don't usually turn up until around the 20th April.

Has anyone else seen them?

Not here yet and I have had an eye out for them.

No swallows, but I have seen a heron today, a kestrel, and six bumble bees in the garden all at the same time... Incredible for suburbs of Southampton.

House martins were here on 1 April. 2 to 3 weeks earlier than last year.
Also heard Chiffchaff last week.

You might be wondering why I'm posting at 05:30 in the morning. Well I've just been in the garden setting up my sound recorder for a test recording of the "Dawn Chorus".

The Sunday morning nearest Mayday is reckoned to be a good time to hear it, and I'm practising. Because it's Monday today the road traffic is active here in the City of Birmingham UK, but I reckon along with the birdsong it's part of the ambience.

You've got to suffer for your art, but I shall sustain myself with a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea.

I was listening to it last Thursday morning,it started about 4.45am
They seem to stay awake half the night now with all the street lamp power.
