Hi,

Hopefully, the queen - side of my 'Wally' is getting mated this next week or so. I am hoping to combine back asap to get the best of the end of season honey, as I have none so far that I will take,

When I unite and they are merged I will have one brood and a half over a single brood.

So I will want to make the best brood frames up into one brood box. Obviously I will have spare frames left over, what to do with the spare frames that may have eggs and some stores left? Put them on the top over a q/e to emerge?

Cheers again

Yes
Decide which is the brood box and put the other over an excluder and use it as a super if it has stores.
Of my two " Wally" boxes the parent with hopefully a new queen is on the cusp of no brood at all (so will get vaped on Friday) and the AS has six frames of brood so you may not have to move frames with brood up at all.

Yes. I think I am about the same. I think my q- side is filling the space where there was brood with stores down below. Obviously I haven't looked yet. I imagine I may have a frame or two of eggs by the time I check if all goes well.

So I am going to have from the bottom:

Floor
Brood
Brood super(half)
Qe
Super
Left over brood?

I guess I would need to shake some nurse bees on it there was bias? Am I making this too complicated? Basically I want clean frames to put away.

I would put that top brood box over the QX if there is brood in it.
When the brood has emerged you can either let the bees fill it with honey or take it away.

And put the super at the very top, if they have started using it by then?

Can you use stores from a brood frame for honey? Guess it would need good filtering?!

I guess it's a bit like the start of a Demaree

If you have any brood to go in the top box make absolutely sure it's all old so that they cannot make QCs because they will and you may lose a swarm after all. There is no problem taking honey from brooded frames. The bees will not put honey into dirty cells. Just spin and filter as normal
