All my car keys nowadays have press buttons to unlock/lock the door remotely. Often I inadvertently seem to activate the things and find the car unlocked when it should be locked or vice versa. Some car security systems can recognize inadvertent unlocking and after a brief pause lock up again. Sadly mine don't 😟. Just for good measure the key battery on one ran down because of excessive key pressing and the remote lock became inoperative. Fortunately at home with the spare accessible.
I've spent some time looking for a small hard "tin" or key case to be a snug protective fit with a millimeter or so of button clearance to contain the key without inconveniencing the pocket. So far without success. Has anyone had the problem and come up with a solution?

Different pocket? eg small "coin" pocket on a pair of jeans so it doesn't share with other objects.
I also have a spare key battery in the car just in case.

I actually do have a dumb key secreted on the car. It opens the door but doesn't activate the immobilizer.
I know this thread started a few months ago but;
Small leather pouch for the key?
Keep a spare battery in the car, if you can open the car with the dumb key you can then get the usual key to work again.

If I can ask, is it one of those magnetic holders that fits under the car? I debated getting one. Kind of curious how well they hold on. It seems like if I were to hit a bump to hard it would come off and the keys arent cheap.

I must say that my vehicle keys almost permanently live in my pocket, together with knife, wallet, lighter for beekeeping, loose change and handkerchief can't say I have ever inadvertently locked/opened the vehicle or run down the battery. Various vehicles/fobs and batteries not needing replacing in years on all of them.

I was well warned many years ago when after a night fishing I found that my key had got soaked when wading to reach that just out f reach trout. The car wouldn't unlock and I was miles from anywhere at midnight. Using the car key to unlock set off the alarm but I wasn't able to start the car!! Fortunately I was able to dry the key with a dry tissue and blowing the water out of it and got home feeling lucky and relieved. Now when going fishing I put the key in a plastic bag and leave it somewhere near the car hidden under a stone. Also saves dropping and losing it away from the car.
