Hi guys,
I have received my four hives and an extra - a small Q- swarm in a nuc box.

As I live next to the local bee institute, I can acquire artificially inseminated queens for next to nothing (a fiver).

I propose to put the new queen in the nuc, bang in a couple of BIAS frames, a frame of stores, and some drawn combs. Leave alone for a week (or two?) then check her maj is out and laying. Then ramp up to a full hive.

Is this the way you lot would do it? Am I making horrendous mistakes?

Thanks !

Sounds like a plan - depending on the size of the swarm, careful you don't give them too much brood so they can't tend it. Select frames of emerging brood if you can. leave them build up before putting in a full hive.
