Hi All

As a newbee just trying to get advice / thoughts I intoduced my Nuc at the begining of July and within 2 weeks had a problem with DWV currently just on my second treatment of Apiguard and now they seem to be doing well.
On my inspection today I noticed that 5 frames are full with either capped brood, larvae or eggs (which is not a bad thing) but there is very little stores on these frames, there is one frame that they have half filled with stores but not capped, do I need to do anything as my concern is they are more concerned on brood rearing than bringing in winter stores.

Thanks in advance.

Are they in a nuc box or did you introduce them to brood box?

Hi Dishmop WBC hive so 10 frames first 2 are just foundation the next is half drawn and they are filling with honey, next 5 are brood, larvae and eggs, next one is half drawn and final one is just foundation.

leave them grow, soon the queen will slow down and the empty cells will be occupied with stores when you feed them, if the colony continues to grow then there is always fondant

If they still have any empty frames into winter take them out and fill the space with Kingspan or similar. Personally I dont think that a dummy frame does much for heat retention because of the gaps around it, but perhaps some insulation packing between the frame and the hive walls would improve matters if you need to use one.
