Dont know what was with two hives that I attempted to inspect today( suprisingly the sun came out). True it was late in the day 5.30pm but still warmish. I had taken only 23lbs of honey of a mixture of both hives about 2 weeks ago. They have the two supers each put back on. They had 4.5 and 5.5 frames of broad each at last inspection(14th august) ( had a lot of wet weather) and both have new supersedure queens from beginning of August.
The supers were not as I had hoped. One hive seemed to have a little excess honey capped in the broad box, three whole frames, so scrapped it on the 14th and it was still the same today. The other hive was similar so scrapped again today. Well anyway they were in a very funny mood, yes they were flightly, and bombing and hitting me ( thats only normal sometimes) but the were also hitting continueily off my hands and climbing up the hive tool ( both hives), it became impossible to carry on and had to close up both hives before getting to the end of the inspections. I walked away a couple of times, went back and it was still happening. The gloves were pink and first time using them, had them in the house, may have been used previously in the kitchen, but hive tool was my normal one. Hope the new queens are ok, queens not seen but eggs and bias seen but in the quick look today wondered if the brood pattern could have been better. And ideas, just having a moan today.
