Have you considered some hive identification to minimise bees 'drifting'?

I was thinking that too. Are you overwintering multiple colonies on top of each other?

and as rab says - why can't it move? so long as you have winter tyres and the snow isn't deeper than the front spoiler (6") all should be fine. We routinely leave a groove on the flattened snow between the tyre tracks where the sump plug (a useful mod in a smart) scrapes along the snow.
