I bought 2 pairs of these last week (£1.99) as a spur of the moment buy. I used them yesterday and today when I replaced the roof on my garden shed.
The gloves are quite lightweight stretchy polyester but the palms are coated with PU polyurethane. They are not water-proof but do not make the hands sweat. The polyurethane palms and fingers provide good grip and protection from splinters whilst keeping hands clean. They're ideal for any wood work associated with beekeeping as well as general DIY. They'd be ok for gardening but I don't think I'd prune roses wearing them - for that job I use welding gloves.
At just under £1 a pair, I think I'll go back to Aldi and get a few more pairs.
