AI queens, the new trend?

24 + a few nucs....this has to stop!
Spent a bit of time this morning browsing the net and was surprised by the number of websites advertising AI queens. While this has previously been reserved to a few selected and reputable breeders, it seems that more bee businesses are getting tucked in to this after paying for a course. Of concern though is the lack of explanation and evidence on the selection process, testing, and so forth
 
That rather highlights the importance of making the effort to breed your own and try to control development. I cant begin to imagine what its like trying to 'improve' stocks in many parts of the UK.
 
Beeks do succeed so it's not impossible. It's a labour of love which has probably taken them decades to get where they are with large resources at their disposition. As they say, where there is a will, there is a way....
