One of my hives swarmed recently.
I was lucky enough to see it, catch it and re-hive it in a new brood box.

This was 7 days ago.
Since then, both the swarm (and it was a prime swarm) and the remaining hive have gone on to fill the brood area with honey.
Not one cell is polished for egg laying.
Should I be worried??
Surely the swarm should be laying almost straight away? Why would they so avidly fill the brood combs with honey??

I can understand the primary hive taking their time; waiting for the virgin queen to go on and get mated, and start laying. but the swarm as well?! hmmmm....

Have they got any supers on?...sounds like the queen may not have enough room to start laying, theres a BIG flow on around here and the bees cant get in and out quick enough!!! If theres a good flow around where you are they just may be making the most of it and taking the easiest route of storing it in the brood area.
Should be easily solved with drawn supers though. If you have got drawn supers on though, maybe they are just taking short cuts or getting lazy??
