6 to 8 Langstroth jumbos, a few Langstroth and National nucs.
An article in this weekend's Daily Telegraph (Page 63-65) on three handcrafted beehives for the gardens at Highgrove..

They are oak covers on top of normal hives would look rather out of place in a suburban garden.Plan details in magazine.
 
That should cut down nicely on drifting.

I doubt bees will ever go into his new hives but he could play at being King.

We had Charlie and the royal Trollope visit our market stall a few years ago when they paid their Cornish serfs a visit.
She asked all the pre-written questions but then said “of course we have bees” my better half then asked a few questions about them, it was obvious from the blank stare that she didn’t have a clue!

Can't see anything wrong with them just a bit of fun.Other countries have museums dedicated to these obscure hives,Why do we in this country have to be such snobs.
 
Unless they are nouveau riche bees, they will live in any tacky building.

I wonder if one can purchase a Floe hive version?

Not to mention Fanny Flabbeghast Heidi Hapsberg and her jewell encrusted, Sun hive... all under a cosmic pyramid roof!
