    Running short

Top bee space is easy all you require is a thin metal strip on the ledge itself you already have the beespace required by not putting the rail in. In fact you can leave the strip out entirely and just run a smear of petrolium jelly along the ledge itself or on the underside of frames lug.

    Brit National hive question ?

Interestingly enough I was given a substantial number of paradise bee box langstroth poly hives about eight of which I have converted to hold smith frames. I manage to get 13 smith frames in each box and with small insert at the base of the box these work wonderfully. This gives me the...

Use of MAQS and the occurrance of Drone layers

If you use nationals Vita moded the instructions I believe to using only 1 strip in these hives, 2 strips appeared to be too much for a national hive to cope with resulting in lost queens.. The original testing I believe was undertaken on langstroths which have a 25 % greater brood volume.

Nectar backfilled in brood frames - best way to deal?

I agree. If they continue you can always introduce a new brood box above an empty super and place all the nectar filled frames in this replacing the moved frames with foundation. They will then do two things you hope move the nectar down to a super above the brood box and secondly pull some new...

    Honey extractors RPM

do you have starting point recommendation then for a motor then if I havent got this how can I decide on a more power one. I am thinking of a motor about 90 -120 watts with a reasonable ammount of torque But WHAT final drive speed should i be going for?????????????

    Honey extractors RPM

That is what I intend to do but I am still trying to figure out what the optimal rotation speed is that I am going to need. I dont want to buy a motor and then find that it will not reach this speed:hairpull:

    Honey extractors RPM

Thanks Bee Friendly but I think that 2800 figure is the raw motor speed before gearing can have been applied. I have found one extractor with the raw speed of 4000rpm with a gearing ratio of 27:1 bringing it down to a maximum rotational speed of 150. What i can not ascertain is whether this...
