Wax Moth Larvae on inspection board, what next?

Thank you that's all I needed to hear..... and reading more today I understand what I should & shouldn't expect. I may appear paranoid but everything that could go wrong has so far in may foray in to the art of Beeking has... What doesn't help is sanctimonious replies to an obviously confused...

Wax Moth Larvae on inspection board, what next?

Had the inspection board in for a couple of days as treating with HiveClean & monitoring drop. This morning found 2 larvae, one alive on pulling the board.... I planned to do full inspection today & final HiveClean trickle Not sure what to do next, totally unexpected & no previous experience...

    Lubrication

Started using vaseline between boxes since first inspection and found the bees a lot happier when opened up. Vaseline recommended. Also, :ot:...have used a misting spray of "CompleteBee" instead of smoke.... The start to the season has been a completely different experience to last year! Very...

    Too much stored honey

In my defence for year 1 - 1) I did that, I had mine just in one BB. 2) I put the 3/4 full Super below & only fed 10lbs syrup in September to get BB up to weight as there were no stores in it! 3) No Fondant on until 3 weeks ago! 4) The Hive hefted heavy & I though it full of Brood so added...

    Too much stored honey

First full inspection today 20c Queen laying, capped brood :-) but I have the same problem!!! I've have moved the less full outer two frames next to brood & removed two frames full of honey & replaced with foundation. There are another six chock full, lovely to see but the wrong time of year...

    Sea Water

Mine seem to like green fur growing in it, looks like seaweed.... although they are taking it from the soggy wood sat in it, so that may be filtering it in some way... have left tap water out but they ignore that!

    Sea Water

I read somewhere a while ago bees like seawater or would take seawater.... We're off to the coast tomorrow, so should I bring a gallon or two back or is it a waste of time? They have found a smelly old bucket full of rainwater & wood they really like at the moment next to the Apiary. I...

Cleaning frames & boxes with bleach

Sorry if this has been asked before. Watched a video last night of the "Fat Bee Man" cleaning old frames by soaking in mild solution of bleach for 10 mins after scraping. I was going to dip/scrub my old Warre boxes as well if it's OK. Some mildew & poo stains etc What's the current thinking...

    Ware Hive Cutting List

This is my Warre Hive cutting list & plank length requirements. PM for Excel list as can't upload to main site. I change the plank depth for the roof & quilt box to make it slightly less heavy. Managed to get the Cedar for £45 cost from a friends yard which is cheap, it will cost around the...
