    Cars hate me

    Ah, right, I see. James

    Cars hate me

Seven of the nine rivets are now drilled out. The remaining two are obstructed by the seat, so I shall take a few tools to work with me tomorrow and those two can get closely acquainted with Mr Dremel :D James

    Cars hate me

Well, online videos suggested that there's a plastic cam that obstructs the door release mechanism and if it is moved out of the way the lock will release. So I drilled a couple of small holes on the inside of the door frame (because it meant not having to drill out all of the rivets holding...

    Cars hate me

Still a work in progress as the weather on Sunday was really too foul to get anything done, and today I have been at work. Hopefully I can play some more tomorrow. James

    Geographic labelling

    Surely they'd run a workers' co-operative? James

    Cars hate me

We use a garage, because it's an absolute pig of a job on the Octavia specifically. There were no problems until the recall to have the ECU reprogrammed in the aftermath of the VW emissions furore. After that it was never quite the same (and anecdotal evidence suggests that there are many...

    Geographic labelling

In the "Have your say" section of my slightly damp copy of BBKA News (for December) there's a piece about labelling including the location (Coety in this case, in Wales). It mentions that the local TSO thought that to be called Coety Honey, all the honey must specifically come from Coety. The...

    Cars hate me

I can try that, but how is it actually supposed to help? James

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Lots of flooding around here too, according to reports on the local news. I shall try to check on mine tomorrow as long as it's possible to get through the muddy fields -- even walking on them is a bit iffy at the moment. James

    Cars hate me

Is that inside the rubber boot between the door and the bodywork? James

    Is winter insulation overrated?

I think it depends how far you go. Calling one's (worker) bees "girls" is fairly harmless and perhaps passably consistent with reality. Describing them as "angry", "aggressive" or "thinking" can perhaps lead to greater misunderstanding. Admittedly I still use such terms myself at times, but...

    Mobile bee hive….. discuss 😁

"Rent a hive for your home and get fresh organic raw honey delivered safely directly to your door." I wonder where they're getting their organic honey from? James

    Cars hate me

Ho ho. Having spent much of the day upside down with my head in the passenger footwell and my feet dangling out through the driver's door in the rain, I finally managed to remove the five screws retaining the door card. Four were actually quite easy. The last was an absolute pig. At one...

    Cars hate me

54 plate would be a Mark 3 I think? Ours is a Mark 2. Impressed that it has done such a high milage though. There are some models that seem particularly prone to problems as far as I can tell. Ours has been particularly bad since Skoda did a recall to reprogramme the ECU in the light of the...

    Cars hate me

Possibly, if I actually understood how :D James

    Cars hate me

The tricky bit is going to be getting the door card off with the door locked. There are a couple of screws holding it on at the bottom that may be obstructed by the sill. If I can't get to them then I might just have to trash the door card. James

    Cars hate me

Our Octavia estate suffered its third EGR valve failure a couple of months back. I was thinking of writing it off because the repair is about 75% of the value of the car, but in the end we decided to get it sorted because if it lasts another three years or so, the children will have left uni...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I don't pay that much as rent :D James

    Stainless honey settling tank

I agree. This seems to be the case with almost everything these days :( And even paying decent money for something doesn't mean it won't turn out to be junk. James

    EU honey import regulations change

Quite. But perhaps easy to lose the EU's "competent" accreditation if it turns out suppliers from your country have been exporting fake honey. James
