Sorry didn't mean to cause confusion. What I meant was that I would have preferred to treat with oxalic acid dribble but this only works if there is no capped brood and I couldn't afford to force the Queen to stop laying because I need to build the colony back up after it lost its queen some...

For the past couple of nights a significant number of bees has been hanging around on the landing of the hive. The evenings are warm right now (22 degrees right now in the north of Italy) but it's nearly midnight and they are still there. Any thoughts? This picture just taken... Thanks

Weeks and weeks of zero brood. Them suddenly brood appeared with zero eggs in each cell. Eggs on the side of the cells and still no sight of the Queen

Ok thanks for the quick reply. So does that mean that the Queen cells are likely to be duds as well? They were in the top box where the queenless colony was. Should I try and insert a new purchased queen or will they likely kill her too?
