Digital microscopes / one with LCD screen

Yes it does, I think you can save images on it to download, I have not done so, I have just had it on a hive top to look at frames under it. It works a treat, I get it focused on a spare frame, then I don't need to play with it when there are loads of bees and I have gloves etc on.

Digital microscopes / one with LCD screen

Depends what you need to do with it. If you just want a bit more magnification for doing things like harvesting eggs this is good as it is quite cheap and you can take it to the apiary...

    BBKA membership

My division are great, as with any club or association it depends greatly on the other members, I have been a member of other enthusiasts clubs in the past where they are full of prats with a messianic complex, mine could not be more different. The magazine is good, the access to interesting...

    Even "good" beesuits have problems

My son has a castle farm suit. Great bit of kit, this has a two part zip, but a very strong velcro on the inside and outside of the join. Likewise the front has two very strong velcro bits, so as long as you do up the zip properly. The patches would be an easy add on to a suit of this is a...

    Under floor entrance.

I made my own, using Lawrence at BMH as my guide. They are great, I keep by bees on pallets have the small gap and have never had a wasp issue, even when there are many about. I would now make it with a removable slot to put my vaping stick in when I want to OA treat them, otherwise, great.

    National Feeder

Like many of the replies I favour the rapid feeder. I have a miller feeder that I made that is also excellent, although I think these are very expensive when a cheaper rapid feeder is also excellent. The drowning bees issue was an issue for me when I tried frame feeders.

Equipment Wanted Bee mentor wanted near Stroud…

I know that you are in Gloucester, but Somerset BKA are superb, it may be worth trying them or an adjoining county to see if they are better. Occasionally divisions within a county vary, I know my division are excellent, as well as a county as a whole. My BBKA experience has been very...

    Varroa mesh

I have had mesh from the mesh company, good gear the coated stuff also is very resilient. I accidently left some in a pool all winter, looks like it has only just been taken out of the packet.

Relocating 5 hours from current location.

I have done some 3hr moves in the past, I have made my own mesh floors and had excess mesh which was screwed over the entrances and then speed taped around the edge. Like the others wedge things in to reduce movement, keep your suit about in case and ratchet it all together well, a bit of prep...

    Hello from Wil

Hello, I am a beekeeper in Somerset, UK. I keep bees as a hobby, I am not a commercial keeper. I am a bit of a novice, learning new methods each week. I like fabricating new kit and am interested in new ways of doing things.
