    pretty grim here today (continuing the Welsh theme). i saw a virgin queen emerge during an inspection 2 days ago, so am keeping my fingers crossed for an improvement in the weather soon....

    yes, a few drops on the top bars and around the entrance will do it, plus they seem to prever grotty, used foundation for some reason, the sort which you might have removed as part of routine hive management - dont throw it away, save it for this/ next years bait hives....

    hi Laura i use lemongrass oil. A new swarm arrived into a nuc box i had baited with it in my garden on Saturday afternoon. Easiest swarm ever!

    clearing honey without warming cabinet?

    not showing it, just selling locally. i removed the super and has it on the back of my car for 20 mins or so with a board below and above to prevent any sticky mess developing, then straight home to extract. it went through the fine sieve surprisingly quickly.

    hi, can anyone advise as to the best way to clear the miniscule bubbles out of honey once put through a fine filter? I havent got a warming cabinet - but i have a very warm loft! should i leave the sealed bucket of honey there and allow the warmth - and patience - to clear before skimming off...
