Thanks for taking the time to give such a thorough account. Sound like a complete nightmare. Don't suppose you can outline what the original allegations allude to?

Scottish "beekeeper" "Eric McArthur" threatens to burn hives.

God your funny! If SA exports to Japan then they could have aquired SHB from there.

Interesting. What about other countries which export to Europe and have SHB. Are there any? Does Japan have SHB?

Scottish "beekeeper" "Eric McArthur" threatens to burn hives.

Would this not also appy to other warmer countries in Europe where conditions are more favourable for establishing SHB? But it has only just got into Italy; if it was coming in often but not establishing in the UK surely it would also have established in other warmer parts of Europe much earlier?

    Worst scaremongering article this year?

I don't think this was ever intented to be a real business. I suspect that as part of their course they had to develop a small business idea. Then talking to the folks back home they came up with this. To a University tutor, who knows nothing about beekeeping, it all looks great. But they...

I would buy a SAF radial extractor direct from Italy. Much cheaper. There was a thread about it but I cannot find it.

Talk about the link between bees and fungi

Interesting but so many jumps in the reasoning its hard to believe or know what to make of it. Also a guy who thinks fungi are going to save the world finds these wonderful effect of fungi. Well no surprises there then.

    Bee breading

One way seems to be to import Queens and sell them for 3X the price you paid or bung them in a nuc and flog it to a enthusiastic beginner for £150-200.

    Winter consumption during winter

I think, from its chemical composition of large organic chains, its likely to be pretty close to 0 as they repel water extremely well which would make any measurements difficult.

Shelf life of MAQs - in the freezer.

:iagree: Formic acid will be stable for years without significant degradation at room temp so at -20oC you are safe. The gel is polymer whose chemical interaction will quite possibly be affected by freezing/thawing. I would have stored in 4oC . I don't know if I would use them; they are...
