Hi everyone, I was just about to check my hives today when right next to one of them was a very large queen (unmarked) so i put her in a queen clip checked my hives and found that she was a extra. there was a lot of drones flying today so would she have come in to mate any ideas????

im goin to move my other hive tomorrow and start a mini nuc, hopefully they make a queen cell of the young brood if its not dead that is.

just a few about 10, loads of honey a super full

i didnt think of that it has been bad weather so no one has been around ill move my other hive tomorrow

I just dont understand it?? had a look round and asked about. But nothing!

absconded I think? i check on passing today they was flying in and out pop down a few hours ago to do the weekly check there was about 10 bees over 12 brood frames and no sign of swarm cells and i had the same thing in the mini nuc no sign of any thing just brood in all stages

just went down to my hives and two of them have upped and left, one a small mini nuc other a full hive, all the bee's had gone left eggs and young brood in all stages no bee's at all. I feel like crying!!!!

The only way you will move them is if you move all the wax from the chimney and then smoke the bees up in to a box from the bottom i have done this many time over the last few weeks dont waste your brood!!!

Yes they will but you will see a large number of dead bees around

tim why dont you make a bee trap for the oak tree and trap them out. there was a tread yester day with sum picks take a look.
