Thanks pargyle ,i have only 3 hives and as a hobby will keep to 5 ish. It was the stand model i was considering but not sure about the gearing cogs ,on the picture they look like plastic or nylon. There are too many to choose from and most described as velly strong . No offence.

Looking to buy a 4 frame extractor but the choice is vast.I have read millets posts and pargyle re a certain model and that sounds pretty good .But has anyone any comments on the maismore 4 frame manual one.

I will keep the nuc boxes with mesh floor and just use the extensions or brood boxes and make up a under entrance floor. As said it will give more stability that way and i have had an offer to buy some used extensions to fit .Im not sure how it will work but i just want to try it out.Ill get...

This being only my second year i am interested in learning different modes of beekeeping. I have some paynes poly nucs adapted to take 8 frames and also some extension boxes to fit .My idea is to make up a nuc/hive soley using the paynes . Just wondering if others have gone this way and any tips...

One of my hives a Maismore ,National Polly is presently on brood and half and i wish to convert to double brood.Is it just a case of adding a brood box under the existing one with foundation and /or mixing with existing drawn shallows .Or just foundation ,as i have no drawn deep frames.Thanks.

Went to check on hives today and there was a cloud of bees hovering round an old Hawthorn Bush about twenty yards from their hive. After half an hour they took off and i followed them for about 100 yrds across a field.They then flew back to the Hawthorn Bush and started to cluster on a branch...
