    Thanks pargyle ,i have only 3 hives and as a hobby will keep to 5 ish. It was the stand model i was considering but not sure about the gearing cogs ,on the picture they look like plastic or nylon. There are too many to choose from and most described as velly strong . No offence.

    I will keep the nuc boxes with mesh floor and just use the extensions or brood boxes and make up a under entrance floor. As said it will give more stability that way and i have had an offer to buy some used extensions to fit .Im not sure how it will work but i just want to try it out.Ill get...

I have some paynes poly nucs adapted to take 8 frames and also some extension boxes to fit .My idea is to make up a nuc/hive soley using the paynes .     One of my hives a Maismore ,National Polly is presently on brood and half and i wish to convert to double brood.Is it just a case of adding a brood box under the existing one with foundation and /or mixing with existing drawn shallows .Or just foundation ,as i have no drawn deep frames.Thanks.

    Did a check and bees all back in hive ,so not swarmed.But found Qcells sealed (panicked) anyway i started the snellgrove plan without the board as Wally Shaw described in his pamphlet.Right or wrong its done now so just have to see what happens.
