Best Poly Nuc for a new Beekeeper

The OP is from June 2019 at that stage I don't believe Abelo nucs were on the market? Thread was bumped this morning.

    Cheap super frames and foundation

Return them; as the item isn't as described the seller is liable for postage.

Using fondant instead of honey/syrup in min nucs.

Just what I was going to suggest to do or alternatively if you know someone whos handy with a 3D printer they could make and print you some. The lack of a queen excluder seems like poor oversight by the designer.

What mini nucs are you using? The Apidea and Chinese clones come with a small queen excluder.

    Submersible pump ?

This is the one I have, in 750w: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07H6P9GCJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Quite a convenient way of doing it, I did about 150L last weekend and just left it to it, after a few hours it does heat up a bit which helps dissolve the sugar...

What / when varoa treatment August to March inclusive

Just to reiterate this as many people talk about a Christmas or even New Year treatment at which point could be too late; this article is worth a read: Weather to treat - The Apiarist but basically try and observe a prolonged cold snap and when the temperatures recover to about 8 to 10 degrees...

    Storing supers for winter

I store mine wet, usually a wooden crown board top and bottom and a few thin clear plastic crown boards every so many supers. Then strapped tight and stored in my container as high as it will allow. Currently in the process of making dollys so I can roll stacks of them to the door when needed...

    Sieve stand

Why not use the round pan shaped sieve with the pull out handles that rests on top of the bucket?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Made up about 150 L of 2:1 syrup. Removed 20 supers ready for extracting. Released a caged queen.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I try and remove them first thing in the morning or late in the evening; helps prevent that from happening. Checked a few hives here, flow looks like its almost stopped; super frames hardly being drawn now however thats gave them a great opportunity to cap some supers so I put clearer boards...

    All the gear…..

I typically just use the one side now until they build up and then remove the divider when they are ready to expand; I prefer the nucs to face the same direction but good to have the option in case you are running low on kit.

    All full

My best year as well but I was a bit blindsided after how terrible last year was. Few deeps are on as supers; I purchased 32 shallows last year and have been scrambling to build frames as I wasn't expecting to need them all; had considered selling some older ones however it looks like instead I...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Started early again this morning, was nice at that stage as was a bit of a haze and breeze. Soon warmed up. Flow has definitely slacked off however I'm wondering how much the recent lack of rain would be playing its part? Never the less the remaining supers I extracted earlier in the week went...

    Frame Spares

Paynes, Maisimore and Thornes all do them. Looks like Paynes are the cheapest?

    Cheap super frames and foundation

Great price - 92p each. In comparison, second frames on sale are usually sold in batches of 50s at £28 so 56p each. The foundation on that site is £6.50 for a pack of 10 so 65p each. Already at £1.21 before you consider the time-saving. Don't deliver to NI though unfortunately.
