    Help with agressive hive

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to a forum member who helped me out with a temp apiary location. All moved now and requeening can start for this colony. Their temperament was much better today but still a few pesky ones following me about. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    Help with agressive hive

Thanks for the offer, I'm trying to find something closer to home around Sittingbourne. They are at my parents in Ashford at the moment. I'll be in touch if I can't find an out apiary by the weekend when I'm planning on moving them away. If anyone knows a location between Ashford and...

    Help with agressive hive

Thanks people, I appreciate your suggestions. I've moved bees before in that way but never with an aggressive hive. I'll give the move a go as soon as I can. Is transporting in a trailer not a good idea? They do tend to bounce a bit unless they have some weight in and I can't see the bees...

    Help with agressive hive

I've been keeping bees for about 7 years now and never had a hive go as bonkers as this! I've got them following even the day after a brief inspection and bee's stinging me while trying to sort them out and now the neighbour has been stung in the face. They were pinging off their window after...

Found photos of my first cut out from 2010

Yes it was lovely, its an incredible instinct, built so accurately. We managed to save allmost all of the brood comb and fed them a little to replace the honey stores we cut out. That was a sticky job!!

Found photos of my first cut out from 2010

Found photos of my first ever cut out from 2010 and thought you might like to see the pictures. The bees were chewing their way through a fibreboard wall on the inside of a dorma window. It was a pretty big house and I don't think the owners live in all of it so hadn't noticed our winged...

    Itchy feet?

Opened up today, sunny 15+ degrees and bees are in a sheltered location so no breeze. Bees collecting pollen like crazy. Queenright in all and decent patches of brood developing in all stages. Some hives have done better with their winter stores than others but all have some available still...

    Swarm on the socks

Just to get you all geared up for the swarming season.... here is a photo from the metro today Anyone for a swarm on the socks - you'd want to check your undies before slipping them on eh?! :willy_nilly:

    Allotment Hive

On the other side of the coin.... Maybe the guy is afraid that a newbee will have hives that do swarm due to inexperience. Then if someone does happen to get stung at some point the finger would be pointed at him as well as you and you'd both be required to move your hives. He has obviously...

    Thornes sale

I know they are only seconds but was expecting something completely similar, there were no other bits like it in the entire order. I'm not bothered by the live knots, thats why I got the sale bits, although there are very few in all of the bits I got. Overall very good for the price! Thanks...

    Thornes sale

Thanks Tom. I have e-mailed thornes and they said it is possibly a piece of English Cedar. In any case it is very white on both sides. I think I may e-mail them a picture and press them for a replacement, it is only one side after all.

    Thornes sale

Got my Thornes sales stuff day before yesterday. Just got around to unpacking it. It is mostly of very good quality but with some pieces having more knots than others. One side piece from a roof though was a very very light coloured wood - I would say it looked like pine. The other parts of...
