Hive not high, of course!

Fondant Did a check on my two WBCs on sunny Saturday and the bees in both hives were happily munching away on fondant in its plastic wrapping on crown board. About quarter of pack of fondant left in each high. Question one: is that ok to leave in at this (cold even in Cornwall) time of year...

My suit is a frxxxile planxx and I wouldn't get one again. Zip problems on the hood and Velcro too skimpy round the zip cover.

What 'bee app', sounds good!

Yeh feeling a bit better about it today - so tomorrow will go out, clean the hive and do a bit more investigatory work to see if under feeding was the real cause. Thanks again everyone, may post some pics if I'm in any doubt.

Thanks to all of you who have tried to post helpful comments. It is much appreciated especially the advice re hefting. To those of you who have been critical, don't worry, you can't make me feel any worse than I already do! I'm still guessing that it was under feeding. Why? Well, I just got it...

Sorry, yes perhaps it was misleading. Anyway, if I manage to get more bees I won't make the mistake of under feeding again!

Interested to know why 2apiguards indicates management problem - I thought that was pretty standard - one and then one a fortnight or so later? I'm in Cornwall and they seemed to have a lot of stores around October/Novemer but I gave fondant anyway thinking it couldn't do any harm to have extra...

Also would love to hear from anyone who's got any bees for me in Cornwall, otherwise will have to wait for some swarms - cant afford to buy nuclei I for my two empty (only) hives :nature-smiley-013::(

Thanks for the sympathy folks. Beeforest, I took 19 lbs of honey very proudly in August and did give them two large helpings of fondant, but obviously not enough. I treated twice with apiguard. Any idea why some were dead on the frames and most (lots) on the floor?.
