    Warming cabinet heater.

Ahh. Great thanks. That's what I'm after. I think i will probably need 120w to do the job? I doubt 60w will be enough?

    Warming cabinet heater.

Hi folks. I have a stand up freezer that i have converted to a warning cabinet. I have always used the old 60w incandescent bulbs to heat it. It appears that they are not available to buy anymore except on line. So i bought 3 for £14.99 !!! Which is bad enough but then they decided to blow one...

    Bees up early today.

Yes some of them had the white HB pollen on them. But not all of them. I'm not sure that it gives much nectar other wise the brood boxes would be packed out by now, what with the hot weather we've been having. Something must have been getting them out of bed early though! Perhaps it's just the...

    Bees up early today.

I was out at half light at 6 o'clock this morning and was surprised at the noise from my bees. They were in full work mode. It made me wonder what they might be working on. Does HB produce a lot first thing maybe?

    Moisture content

Last year i bought a couple of small dehumidifiers online, i think about £30 each. I had such a small crop compared to usual that I wanted to harvest all the uncapped honey instead of giving it back to the bees. I Put a dehumidifier in the middle of a stack of suppers. It worked a treat. They...

    Submersible pump ?

    Storing supers for winter

Does treating them with acetic acid before storing them either wet or dry not keep them free from waxmoth. And also any Nosema spores?

    Interesting bee facts for kids

If i was a kid the fact that honey bees have 5 eyes would be brilliant. I still think it's brilliant and I'm a long time away from being a kid!

Utilising a larger brood area next season

If you run brood and a half then instead of having to check through all the frames, as you do with brood only, you simply split the two boxes and look under the top box . The theory being that if they are making QC's they will be on the bottom of the frames. So it is actually less work!

    Good news for Welsh beeks?

Well done NRW!(national resources Wales ie. forestry comm.) Wouldn,t it be a great thing to be able to put hives in the forest? Either for the wild flowers, honeydew or access to the heather? I think that there's a change going on over the years to recognise the assets that are in our...

    A/S without finding the queen?

If you take the above method but approach it differently. Put 2 frames of brood with eggs in a new brood box with empty frames,on origional site. Move parent colony to new position at least 3 feet away. Job done! Correct me if I'm wrong.
