What did you do in the Apiary today?

Like Christmas - but in July. MAISEMORE order ‘finally’ arrived. I should have ordered the langstroth foundation separately but didn’t think so probably a waste of time filling a couple of supers now but you never know. The rest were replacement floors and roofs as I’ve got a few old and dodgy...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

A day of odd jobs - bottling, labelling, delivering, prepping for 3 days of events this weekend, and I managed to find time to head out and check my nearest apiary which has expanded nucs pushing well into their 2nd supers (of foundation) and then to another large apiary which now has 10...

    Not for the faint hearted....

Did you hear me scream ? The stent is out. It’s a very cold day I explained to the nurse as she asked me to lower my underwear. The stent was basically a miniature version of a blue alkethene water pipe… I had to drink a few cups of water after to make sure the plumbing was working ok. Drive...

    Not for the faint hearted....

The renal cramps are quite the most agonising thing I’ve ever had. Entering Competitions...

Well Dear Reader, It's almost the longest day and all downhill from there on in as the earth spins on it's axis, wobbles, sneezes, and tips the northern hemisphere into the long slog to Autumn. I often wonder what it's like keeping bees in warmer climes where they have 8-9 months of flows, and...

Third swarm of bees to occupy my traffic cone

The only 'Blatantly Obvious Realities of the Situation' from where I'm standing is you clearly didn't practice swarm control management or need to get a new pair of specs to spot the swarm cells....

Third swarm of bees to occupy my traffic cone

I find by standing on my shed roof naked howling at the sky and harvesting my honey in time with the phases of the moon I seem to attract swarms to bait hives every year
