    Swarm Clusters

It was just a thought... probably too far out in left-field.

    Growling Bees?

So it is probably not the result of a bee using the box as a sound board? I doubt that poly would make a good sound board.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

    Perfect

    Swarm Clusters

Has anyone found a way to induce a swarm? If, having found swarm preparation, we could get the bees actually to swarm and settle on a Russian Scion (or similar), the resulting cluster should be ideally constituted, have location amnesia and more likely to succeed. I have captured an airborne...

    Describing Honey

Surely nectar is just nectar? It doesn't necessarily reflect the flavour of the root veg or fruit of the plant. We all seem to enjoy honey made from broad bean, or **** or any number of inedible plants.

    Importation of bees

You are Patrick Murfet of Bee Equipment. Your shenanigans were discussed on this forum, and elsewhere, at length. e.g. https://beekeepingforum.co.uk/threads/importation-of-bees.49485/

    Importation of bees

That is never going to happen, after your shenanigans earlier this year.

    Euphoria and disaster

Yes, but trapped between the old pupal sacs (cocoon). The larvae defecate just before spinning the cocoon and pupating. Extracting from an old brood comb is fine, but crushing the comb will allow the faecal remains to contaminate the honey. The old skeppists would remove any brood comb before...

    Friendly breeds

From Beebase: https://www.nationalbeeunit.com/index.cfm?pageId=198 Chalkbrood Cause Chalkbrood is caused by the fungus Ascosphaera apis. When ingested by the larva it penetrates the gut wall to absorb nutrients. As the spores germinate and multiply, the larva eventually dies of starvation...

    Hive Layout

I do think I want to keep bees "naturally", whatever that is supposed to mean. Do you keep bees unnaturally? I am a hobby beekeeper, not a bee-exploiter for profit, and the maths are irrelevant for me. It is perfectly possible, actually quite easy, to keep bees without feeding them sugar. It...

    Growling Bees?

This has been mentioned a couple of times recently. No-one really knows what is making the noise or how. There are some YouTube videos out there with recordings.

    Osr honey in frames

Of course, but can you extract the honey, as the OP asks?
  15. gmonag

    Osr honey in frames

Difficult. I don't believe just warming will make it extractable. Probably the only way to extract the honey is cut out, crush and melt the comb. The honey will not be fit for sale due to the heating. Do you know the provenance of the frames? If you are sure it is disease-free you could give it...

I hope the OP has the answer to his original question somewhere in this thread

OP did say the brood box was fairly empty of stores

    Hive Layout

Come now - no idea? Perhaps because honey is what bees use to feed them through winter? I should have thought a thinking man like you could work that out.

    Data leak

Little bits of info such as, email address, area of residence, online habits, IP address, age, gender, the fact that you are a beekeeper, etc. Not state secrets but when added to all the myriad of other bits of data a complete profile of you emerges. I'm guessing you get spam all the time, as...
