    Question re Propolis

I understand the benefits of propolis but some colonies just produce so much. Yesterday, whilst inspecting one of mine, there was so much propolis that, after a couple of minutes, my (nitrile gloved) fingers stuck together, bees stuck my fingers and I could hardly get the frames out. One...

    Brood Box as Super

Just being able to lift one is not the point, it is more having to lift 3 or 4 per hive (off then back on again) at each inspection.

    Brood Box as Super

If you want to use one size of box throughout, you need a box smaller than a National deep, just because of the weight.

    DIY honey pressing suggestions

Just cut/mash/stir the comb in a bowl until it is a slurry, then strain though a regular double sieve overnight. Keep the room warm ~25C.

Terrible honey crop and depleted stores!

There is still a risk of reinfection from other (collapsing) colonies, but that is a different issue. The above schedule will produce effective mite control with brood present.

    Bee stings

I believe that to be true so I don't keep my suit in the house and I wash it myself, on its own. There is evidence that families of beekeepers are at risk of developing an allergy due to low levels of venom ingested as dust from contaminated suits.

Terrible honey crop and depleted stores!

You don't have to cover the full 21/24 brood cycle, just the sealed period (The first OA vape will kill almost all the mites (98%) outside any capped brood. Over the next 5 days new mites will emerge but no yet re-enter the brood. The second vape (5 days after the first) will kill them all...

How do I clear bees from supers on Paradise Bee box

It is what I have observed on various videos and also what I found myself doing, until I gave it some thought. Perhaps natural was the wrong word, try "common".

How do I clear bees from supers on Paradise Bee box

A thought on shaking/brushing bees off frames: The natural way to do this is to remove the crown board, take each frame in turn from the top super, shake/brush the bees back into the hive, put the frame into a new box and repeat. Then you do the same with the next super(s). The result is that...
