    Hi all Do any of you use clear crown boards? are they a good idea in winter. I would like to check on them without disturbing them as I am a newby and insecure about how they're doing, but is it less insulating than a wooden one. I have kingspan on top of the crown board. Thanks Rosie

    I have an open mesh floor on a national, with a brood box and no super, I live in north Yorkshire. Do I need insulation, if so has anyone used the BBKA insulation pack of polystyrene walls and roof space sheet. I'm a new beekeeper so please keep it simple, sorry if this has already been raised...

    Thanks for all your posts. It is a brood box full of drawn frames, no super, I think I'll keep trying with the strong syrup then. but if they don't take it will the fondant harm them?
