    Heavy duty Gazebo

My father has bought two over the years that have a heavy metal pillar construction. If your looking for strong and durable don't rush into it. Do some research.

    queen

On a board called beesource I used to look at some members living down in the southern United States said they were requeening every year to keep the Africanized honey bee genetics out of the hives, if they can requeen this frequently to avoid certain genetics, then I don't see why requeening...

    Mouse poop in honey

The bees could reuse it, but as stated by several members it is spoiled for human consumption. The hantavirus https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hantavirus is one of the largest health threats to humans.

    opening for the first time

Liquid smoke (can get at most hardware stores) in a squirt bottle use modestly. It calms them quite quickly. One of our local club members brougt it and it worked quite well when we were transferring ours from the nuc box to their new langstroth hive.

    pictures of my inspection yesterday

I completely agree with Redwood, check for an established queen first. If you don't have one, let nature runs it course and them establish queen cells and a virgin queen. Otherwise it could lead to disastrous results for your hive. You can never take too many precautions.

First adult sting, Have I reacted?

I'd carry any medications necessary to ensure your safety. I'd possibly speak to a doctor and take their suggestions. It will help with you in the long run with your bee keeping.

    Beggar your Neighbour

Had a similar situation earlier this year. We have a hive my cousin started, then she abandoned it when she went to California. Due to my mom and step dad not knowing the precautions to take for winter we lost the bees. We have all been to classes and educated since then. We were told we had...

    Beverley Bee Auction

I agree if the 110 to 170 pounds is for a hive then it's a good deal, but if it is for a nuc it is on the expensive side. Last I saw the British pound is worth about two US dollars. That would make that 220 dollars to 340 dollars.

    Bad Luck For Me.

Sorry to hear about your injury. As to your maintenance issue with the bees, due to your injury I'd recommend a second partner to assist. Good luck with a quick recovery, and your bee keeping until you're fully healed.

    Dandelion honey??

My family and I were told that you can't refer to honey as a singular type of honey unless the bees are near a large source of the plant they collected the pollen and nectar from, also if it is taken and bottled right after they're done carrying the said plant for the season.

    Beverley Bee Auction

When I look at the dollar being half the value of the British pound. It shocks me how much more expensive things are where you all are. We paid around 200 USD for our 5 frame nuc.

    Budget hive vs "normal" hive

The quality of the hive could determine if you have to replace parts of the hive sooner or not. If you think you can make good with the lower quality and get more stuff necessary then it justifies the decision. However if you decide to go with quality either decision has it merits.

    Bees and music

I wouldn't know, I have an appreciation for classical music. However I am not a huge fan of classical. I am a lyric person, and always have been.
