Double brood lang's V 2 x singles ... I know there are many variables, .. but .. can anybody comment on honey take overall. I normally run singles, but many of my sites, I could double up, Instead of spring splits, thinking one box expanding into 2, cuts the chance of early swarm and...

Bait Hive activity has got me curious :)

Why don't you just leave the buggers alone ! If it's a small swarm, the more you mess with it, the more likely you are to stuff it

WE allow absolutely NO importation of any bee product ! Use of drugs or shook swarm methods is highly illegal The classic sign of AFB is the prominent extended tongue of the desiccated pupae I wonder if dirty old comb, is a contributor ? I have heard, that in Asia, ANY disease is handled...

    Afb

I seem to have sorted the k/b problem, Those stats suggested by alldigging, really need to be collated against total hive numbers, verses AFB infected, to give a yearly %. from which you could see a long term trend One thing I note, is the prevalence of EFB ...Are the infected hives destroyed...

How are you containing AFB, in the UK. Do you have a National policy on the elimination of Who pays for the control, inspection, and science Many questions, perhaps I can be directed to research papers The reason I ask, is here in New Zealand, AFB is our #1 enemy. We have had an...

    what started out as

AH HAHA, all I can say is great minds think alike. I'm of the opinion that I should always enquire first, before doing any research. Saves heaps of time All I can add to the previous thread, is, I thought of these ideas for 1) vegetation growth blocking landing board, 2) a large lower entrance...

    what started out as

As a ventilation hole above the landing board, 22 mm in diameter, and just below the lid rim. Is now being use as a major traffic way. It seems the occupants prefer this route ? It's staggering the though put, and how organised they are at entry and exit. The landing board is still in use, and...

What advantage does wood - wax have over plastic in this situation ?

    bulk winter feeding

What diseases are you thinking about ? So your bulk syrup container is robbed very occasionally by some far away hive, be it feral or what ever .... how is disease transferred ? Only one disease we really worry about ...AFB, ... and in this case the invaders are the losers
  19. L

    Wiring board

Ah yes, if yo don't pre wax the plastic foundation, the bees aren't keen on it

    bulk winter feeding

Not from me you won't ! ... I believe a lot bee keeping anecdotes, are mmmmm almost myths. Well maybe not myths, as if you carry on regardless and unreasoned, the unfortunate will be saddled with the consequences, I told you so. But, certain reasoned and thoughtful modifications to a near...
