Im going to unite two of my overwintered nucs with two hives which are queenless, so just asking from peoples experience how they did it? I have paynes poly hives 14x12 and my nucs are paynes poly as well, I have in the past put the newspaper over the queenless colony with a q excluder then put...

the nucs are probably as strong as the hives if not a few more numbers in the nucs ... i was thinking of putting the nucs on the hive stand and shakin the bees out but was a bit worried what would happen? would they fight? and my last querie is wont the flyers from the nucs fly back to where...

yes i agree the two hives are not that strong but still working hard, wondered whether it would be best newspaper combine or just call it a day on the hives that was my question and just replace with the nucs as they expand, did not want to damage or put back the nucs as they are building up...

found 2 of my hives are queenless strange really lol they are lugging pollen in but its all for nothing .. dont know whether to combine with a couple of overwintered nucs or just call it a day with those 2 hives ???

thankyou for your replys its always reasuring to have bee keepers who have seen it and done it all before giving good advice, I thought I was on the right track but not seen full frames of crystilised stores this time of year before.

I still have combs full off crystalised honey in my brood chamber, i was under the impression that the bees would sort it out but they dont seem to of touched it, I have about 4 frames in each brood box... Should i remove and add foundation or just leave it as it seems to be taking up valuable...

The honey is crystalized and I pressume it is Ivy because it tastes foul!! I dont think its good enough to be jarred. just wanted a solution to get it out of the comb so they can be reused this year

so basically fill a tub with warm water and put the frames in and the honey runs out, sounds easy and I can re-use the supers this year...
