thanks Andy -just phoned him now -hope its nothing gruesome ! 2 weeks ago when i examined them the cappings had holes so i treated for bad dose of varroa this maybe the aftermath -ill feed them now big time till hes arrives -thanks for your reply (the only one) !
help - problem with two colonies: these I split from one colony beginning of summer they seemed to be doing well but now something odd as happened....
last few weeks the bees have been very slow in drawing out in the brood boxes
and seem to be depleting I noticed first cappings with holes...
hi all -it will be my first time this year to add more than one super on each hive (thats if this crazy weather stops)- when a super is full -do i then put empty super on top of the full super or under -empty on BB and full on empty super?:eek:
enrico you are right! i cannot find the queen when the colony is nasty ! so i thought id try this method -tonite when i changed the nuc to a bb to give the flying bees more room they were bonkers -they were vicious !
i will have to requeen as you said the hive with the old queen -if i can...
hi folks been stressed out today looking at so many ideas of doing a AS !
i have nasty bees and cant hang about when examining them therefore still finding it hard to spot the queen!
so when doing the AS i used a technique that would help me without having to hunt for the queen .....

my bees are in the welsh mountains and with the nice weather are quite active although chilly again today and rain on its way -but the golden question is......
when do i start treating and feeding sugar solution ...theyve had ample fondant so i know its a while yet before more feeding but any...
i was informed that mice eventually die in the hive and the bees embalm the mouse to keep hive clean of contamination and i would probably think by now with the colony reduced over winter i would have hardly any bees left -this is not the case -bees in abundance!

i know it sounds freaky and perhaps a horror movie could be made of this...but i really want to find out the course- i think i might have a mouse in one hive -when sliding out the inspection tray it looked like a bit of mouse pee but that was the same in autumn -wouldnt the...
when inspecting the two hives yesterday only to quickly slip some extra fondont in i noticed a few headless bees at the entrance of both hives -can anyone tell me why this is ? bluesman:p
