Moving from standard National deep to 14x12

Given the way my season is going, you probably will have very few stores to worry about this. I suppose one way to do it would be to bruise the stores and let the bees use them up or could even leave it in during winter and remove the frame in early spring.

I’m guessing now is a good time to vape?

Did mine yesterday evening at the home apiary, bit of mizzle which wasn't ideal to keep the powder dry. I think this is the ideal time however before the solstice, warm so the cluster is loose and after a prolonged cold spell.

    Plastic Foundation

Scrape and press. I attempted the same thing last year on normal wax trying to scrape back to the midrib but more often than not I went through the other side;m if they repaired it was with a lot of drone comb.

    Plastic Foundation

I tested the plastic foundation in 15 supers this year and liked it so bought another 200 sheets to make up some more. Makes extracting much easier, especially heather honey. The frames are quicker to build as well.

    Beeswax block packaging

I seen them in a local hardware store once, packaged into a larger retail box with no additional packing on the blocks themselves.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Just curious as to what beeks thoughts are as to how best to proceed, I did the first round of oxalic treatment last Tuesday and the second round on Sunday which leaves me to do the third this Friday which I don't think I'm going to have time to complete. Am I best going for Thursday or Saturday...

Cost of sugar or fondant 2022

Finlays foods just outside Maghaberry is where I buy my sugar, they were cheaper for Fodant than Andrews in Lisburn last time I checked and they also do the bee branded stuff as well. First time I rang ordering the bakers stuff they were like do you keep bees as they knew by what I was ordering.

    Buying new suit

I never owned the Swienty suit but I had a suit of the same construction with what I would describe as a flexible plastic waffle layer. That suit was very heavy and slightly inflexible compared to the Sentinel II suit.

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

Taking anything I own in Abelo yellow and swapping it out for other kit so I can paint it leaf green. The first round of kit was done last week. Gave the first coat to several roofs and a floor this evening. I do like the yellow but it's too bright for out apiaries I think.

    Slugs in Nucs

I seem to have a real infestation of them, every hive and nuc seemed to have them, in the feeders, under the roof and around the crown board and some under the lugs. Worst ones have Id guess around 20. They make a real horrible brown mess everywhere. I took this photo around a month ago during...

    Buying a table saw

The R255PTS is supposed to be similar to the RAGE5-S but the build quality is lower. If you have a Nectar card I think this would be hard to beat at £245.65. Evolution RAGE5-S 240V TCT Multipurpose Table Saw with 255mm Multipurpose Blade | eBay

    To keep one amused

Three guesses yesterday and three today. Didn't play 236 as was annoyed at 235 which was really a six-letter word misspelt even though I did get it. Wordle 237 3/6 ⬜⬜⬜🟨🟨 🟨🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Wordle 238 3/6 ⬜⬜🟨🟩⬜ ⬜🟩⬜⬜🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 I thought today's word was common enough? Not the worst.
