what sort of flower is this?

mine are bringing in flowering current pollen, a sort of muddy yellow/beige colour, traced it back to flowering currents and also sampled some pollen sac off an omf board

also green ish apple and pear pollens coming in

The spring has really caught up

'tis a flowering currant alright. I was taught not to do an inspection before the flowering currant is flowering (one of those 'cast not a clout till May be out' sort of rules of thumb)
 
That's interesting, keith, i.e. local related truths. There's not a lot of currants that I know here of BUT there is a local street planted, by the Council, with ornamental cherry trees which act as my guide - when they come into flower - my bees are happy enough so I can open without smoking.

currant. In some the flower tube is too long for the hive bee
to obtain nectar.
So you may get some nectar.

Had a little look at a few books and it might be a pulborough scarlet ribe
