I take a queen excluder.
If I am pushed for time I put the swarm in the cardboard box and put the queen excluder on top - ideally with a bit of shade and something for them to hang onto (dividers from wine bottle boxes are ideal!)
Then the bees can all collect round the queen and she is less likely to abscond (slimline flying queens!).
Place the box plus swarm close to where the original site of the swarm was and the flying bees will very soon work out where the swarm is and rejoin it.
After a pause for a drink 95% plus of the bees are in the box and can be sealed and taken home.
