hi all how long would u expect a pine hive to last ?bee-smillie

15+ years if its good quality Pine especially no sapwood difficult to achieve from standard off the shelf timber and then treated every couple of years.

A carpenter once told me treated timber would last three years at least while untreated timber only about 36 months

Nice one mbc. Reminds me of the one: Which is heavier? A tonne of lead or a tonne of feathers?

Regards, RAB

Guess it's a difference in culture or maybe climate.
Never seen anything other than pine hives in North America. Typical life appears to be 10+ years depending on how often you re-paint.

I see that dadent stock poly hives now do many people use them in America Regards Andrew
