Hi
Ive got a national brood box ,with 6 frames being used at present with 4 unused ones at the end.

Is there any benefit in moving these 4 unused frames to the centre of the frames to encourage the bees to fill them ? or should i just let them naturally move into them ?

thanks

Buzz

Yes you can move frames to the middle and I often do, however don’t move all 4 as there are not eneough bees on 6 frames to cover the gap/maintain the cluster. If you have a frame of stores up against brood slip a frame of foundation in there, you can do that both sides of the box. With 6 frames of bees and this good weather you should also be able to slip a single empty frame in the centre but not all 4. Ian
