Hi
needed to move Bees from a Nuc to a new hive about 40 metres away and as expected about 100 have flown back to the old spot .
I have left the empty nuc for them for today - how can i encourage them to stay in their new home ?

Thanks

B.

When you move them, block up the entrance with grass for a day or two.

Any bees that have flown before will have left the new location and gone out to look for their old home. You have left the nuc in the old location, so they will go there. Tonight, after flying has ceased tip them out of the nuc into the new hive. Loosely stuff the entrance with grass. It would have helped to have made sure the nuc entrance was facing a different direction to the original entrance. Why did you not just move the new hive to the site of the nuc, transfer the frames, and remove nuc completely?
