Got a call from home lunch time....your bees are swarming so rushed home from work...wasn't tooooooo worried as have clipped queen and they returned three weeks ago after doing the same.
Got home and things were calming down, went through hive found a couple of capped and uncapped QC's ...this is since I checked on Saturday when I had added additional BB (14X12) and had removed capped and uncapped QC's.
Eggs in top BB and queen going about her business in bottom BB so added a second super and closed hive :)

Went indoors removed suit and..... horror of horrors ;) a bee had come indoors and managed to sting me just above my left eye... has swollen a bit in the last 3 hours so will have to see how it ends up tonight.

Joy oh joy and out for meal tonight to celebrate my daughters 17th birthday...expect some strange looks :)

Been there, got the T-shirt. Copped one on the eyebrow a few years back. For me it took a few hours to develop, hope you have less of a reaction!

Luckily for me I have found stings around the face haven't reacted too badly in the past....natures way of telling me it can't make it look any worse :)
Usually it's stings on ankle / feet area that I find have the worst reaction to so hope it calms down rather than gets worse.....time will tell lol

I've made a habit of brushing myself down before I go inside if I've been inspecting the bees, or even standing by the hive, as my bees tend to land on peoples clothing when they're in the vicinity (they're very gentle when they do, but you don't want them to still be there when you go inside).

I developed that habit when, two days after getting my bees, one of them came inside on my t-shirt and flew around the living room. I managed to get her into a cup and release her back outside, but it made me develop that habit very early on in my beekeeping career, which is, to be honest, still very early on.

While flaming equipment at the Association apiary (no veil when using flames of course), and some way from the hives, one of the girls suddenly took exception to me, followed by a couple of her mates. One beneath the eye, one on the eyelid and one on the neck. My first stings but not a major reaction thankfully but it looked like the wife had given me a backhander. Part of the joys of beekeeping I guesss

At least if you get as p!ssed as a cuckoo and cause an embarrassment you can blame it on an adverse reaction to the sting! :D

i had a sting above my left eye yesterday and held small cold stones on it for nearly half an hour...seemed till do the trick, next till no reaction.

Could have been worse - could have been a sting on your cold small stones

Wednesday I was due to take a trip to the hospital for a detached retina. I was told that I would not have any vision from this eye after the op for two to three weeks. So I decided that morning to get the garden in shape and take care of the two hives I have at home. I put on my suit as was going to do inspections after cutting the grass. Do not usually put Vail over until I get near to the hives. Off I go 3 foot of lawn cut then sting to the left eyebrow. Yep the eye with the detached retina. Luckily only very slight swelling to brow but another lesson learnt.
