Hi! I am a new member from Norwich, where I got my first hive at the end of July last year. I have joined the Norfolk Beekeeping Association, but have not had much of a chance to go to any of the meetings yet, so I am looking forward to that in the coming season. I have had a chance to read and learn a lot over the winter, and I look forward to a more of that on the forum and beyond!

Welcome, Dave. You can be the new Dishmop (RIP).

Whereabouts are you? I am often up in Cromer at my old man's place.

I live in Norwich, a little bit north of the UEA. There's a decent amount of forage, considering that it could be considered an urban location. I happened to be in Cromer on Tuesday with some friends, having some fish and chips for dinner!

Plenty of forage round there. Were you in No.1 for your fish supper?

Greetings from E Norfolk.
I will be at the auction too.

Don't get carried away! I have seen knackered WBC's go for silly money when two novices out-bid each other. (The winner looked sheepish afterwards realizing his error; the loser looked relieved as he realized he had a lucky escape!). And old foundation going for more than new. Otherwise there can be bargains to be had.

If it's cold, wrap up warm - don't expect to have any heating there!

Same at many auctions :-( you need to know when to stop bidding. Set a limit and follow it.
A couple of years ago there were multiple lots of real firewood at on sale I attended.

Indeed I was! The Whin Hill cider was a pleasant find, although the weather was a bit grim.

I am thinking of getting a Paradise Honey polystyrene hive this year, but I wouldn't say no to any bargains at the auction (and of course, a rotten WBC wouldn't be high on my list!). I'm bringing a friend along who hopes to pick up a bargain or two, but won't be disappointed if he walks away with money still in his pocket.
