Yes, it is like a little rowel wheel that you roll along it. Alternatively use a 12v transformer to pass a current along the wire to melt it in.

Well ... I thought the 'rowel wheel' - Crimping tool ? was for tensioning the wire in the frames and then, after installing the foundation, you use a 12v current to heat the wires and melt them into the foundation.

I stand to be corrected as I'm foundationless and just have crimped wires in the frames but I've seen my mentor melting the wires into his home made foundation using a car battery and a rheostat ...

Everyone breath a sigh of relief when this geezer gets his hands on even the most crappiest beekeeping book which tells him the most basic of beekeeping things.

I tried looking at the book I have and there are some things that are not properly explained, also by asking on here, there are differences of opinion of the best way to do things, which is interesting, because in a book you only have the authors opinion, for instance I ask "which bees" - I am in Spain but the book is in English and assumes I am in the UK, so it is only by others experience I can learn what is best.
May I ask why you don't have any hives.
