i am about to do my first extraction. what do I do with the wax in the uncapping tray. How is it separated from the Honey.
Thankyou.

If you have a rapid feeder, one with the cup in the middle. Put them in that over a hole in a feeder board and the bees will leave the cappings perfectly dry. You can then melt it for top quality wax..
Feed them to the bees in the evening to help prevent robbing and take off the next day

Alternatively heat the lot in a glass bowl in the microwave until melted. When it cools the wax will have floated to the top. The honey is pretty useless except for cooking! Knock a hole in the wax and drain off the honey. Clean the wax in a solar melter for later use, sale, etc

I do this and find the honey is perfectly fine. I only keep it for our use obviously but don't waste it.
