My mentor tried to get me to do this once,he's not my mentor anymore!!

It's one of the reasons I only have women working with us. :)

It was cold but on looking in the small entrance of some, we could see bees walking around upside down under the frames where a whole heap seemed to be tucked up warmly a couple of inches above the OMF. A few were dragging the few dead around towards the entrance and all hummed v quietly.

All you have to remember is that if you get stung, it's only a little prick...

I'll get me coat.

:leaving:

Just remember if this should happen to ask the Doctor to take away the pain but leave the swelling :)

BBG - i presume you have to be very careful when selecting hive stand heights?

reminds me of a Viz Top Tip from 15 or so years back - "Managers. Make sure the sexual harassment complaint forms are kept on the top shelf or bottom drawer in your office."

:hurray::hurray:OMG have nt laughted so much at a thread for ages. I have actual tears running down my face.

.

I have noticed the same. Only wanking around the hive makes alarm.

Okay - so i*d * o*t gets filtered out but w***ers are allowed - I didn't wander into the wrong forum this evening did I ?
Maybe that's why Gordon Brown complained about Jeremy Clarkson calling him an
i*d * o*t should have called him a w***er instead (apparently it's a pet name given to him by Tony as in Oh god it's that w***er calling to ask when it's his turn in charge!)

That reminds me of what happened to a err "friend". The Dr prescribed viagara for my friend, unfortunately he failed to swallow it properly, it got stuck in his throat and ended up with a stiff neck!

Apparently you can get viagra eye drops now specifically prescribed for the bull terrier and white t shirt brigade - it doesn't improve your sex life but at least you look hard :D

Yes, I remember the short skirts and the last days of S&S well

Finnish

All I can say is
"thank goodness for different languages"
and their very different interpretations.

Good laugh.

Looking out of the window I can see a pair of blue tits near the hives.. Need I venture out, or is it better indoors?:svengo:

Made me smile and, for the first time ever, my teenage son agree that your posting was 'mint' even if he thinks beekeeping is a bit sad... he's still plenty of time to come round :)

Going back to my original question. "Do they not know its cold?". I think probably yes they do but this nuc has been nicknamed claymore. It has a very nasty habit of going off in your face when you open it up, it is always the first out what ever the weather, and is a prime candidate to be requeened asap.

I think finmans suggestion for keeping warm in front of the hives could be a little dangerous although the additional swelling achieved by the stings would negate the need for the viagra.

They surely know, but they are aware too to defend their hive.
They rise the temp to 40C which is the thorax heat of quick flying.

I have noticed the same. Only wanking around the hive makes alarm.

Come again?
