The weather was grand today with all sorts of flying insects about, i took a picture of this fat bumble bee working the crocus but after looking closer i see she is full of them little mites, apparently they only feed on wax but before today i have seen one covered in that many it could not fly.
Last year one got caught out on a cold night and perished, when i picked it up the mites where all over my hands and none where visible like this one so she must be carrying a fair load.
Is there something i can do to rid any of these mites i see in the future from Bumble Bees.

You can flick them off with a cotton bud or a matchstick. Then give her a sugar meal and she'll be off.
The only use for matchsticks in the bee world :D
