Lost the plot a bit so need a reminder. I have just lost a swarm from a hive I want to unite anyway. The swarm has just happened. Can I be absolutely sure that at this tme there is no emerged queen in that hive so that I can just destroy all the cells and unite with another colony immediately, safe in the knowledge that there won't be a fight.

As sure as you can be with anything involving bees. Go through destroy cells paying attention and unite.

Whereas I would say no you cannot be absolutely sure. I have witnessed virgin queen emerging before the swarm.

Not much history to go on. "This time" what is the history of this statement in relation to the hive. Prime swarm or another cast?

This hive has swarmed at least twice this year, just can't stop it. Considering it was an over-wintered nuke that was so lacking in stores that I had to feed it in April it seems to have a remarkable propensity for growth and swarming. The genetics in this hive are dooming it eventually so I'm going to stop it in it's tracks by wiping out the source and uniting the bees with another, rather more amenable, colony.
